Day 1 down…on to Day 2

Day 1 wasn’t incredibly easy since I still had to prepare meals for the whole family while I drank most of mine. The fiber drink was hard to get down, but well worth it. I took the children to the park for over an hour today and the walk and chasing babies really felt good. Lunch was a big salad and the avocado was delicious. I felt amazing and my whole body seemed jazzed about all the nutrients. The lymph nodes under my chin weren’t swollen as usual. They have been swollen for a few weeks now due to my allergies. Today I only sneezed once and had didn’t have a runny nose. I became really hungry around 3pm, but so did my children and then I realized that was a usually time when we get hungry for a snack. I allowed myself 2 handfuls of berries and drank some water and felt great. I craved butter and bread during dinner and then I realized how much this thought stood out to me. Day 1 seemed harder than it really was and I allowed myself to rest more than usual.

I’m looking forward to smoothies and salads tomorrow, though I’ll be running all over town and it gets tricky being out while cleansing. I need to prepare a hearty breakfast smoothie and be ready to devour lunch when I get home. I’m hoping no one invites us out to eat after my daughter’s dance recital, the smells at restaurants will drive me insane. I’ll muster the courage to order just a plain salad if I do.

I’m interested in hearing how others like to cleanse and the results they see and feel…..

Is your body craving to detox?

I’m feeling it…..it is that time again to cleanse! Americans can safely cleanse a minimum of 4 times a year at the time of every season change to offset our exposure to toxins. We are going to begin this summer with a Gentle Colon Cleanse, which is the best place to start, and then follow it up with Liver, Gallbladder and Kidney cleanse! If you found this site and are interested in participating with others I assume you already have some idea of why cleaning is beneficial. If not, review this Powerpoint presentation I made and I also suggest you read Juicing, Fasting and Detoxing for Life by Cherie Calbom and The Sunfood Diet Success System by David Wolfe. Let’s see if you can give this 5 days and see how you feel afterwards. Let the challenge begin…..

An effective detox program will include these 6 important steps:

1. Reduce exposure to toxins from processed and environmental exposures-choose organic and sustainable, read your labels and use the Chemical Cheat Sheet!

2. Eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and veggies blended.

3. eliminate coffee, dairy, meat, flours, alcohol, sugar, nicotine, and over the counter medications. Anything processed should be avoided.

4. Exercise-sweating helps to move toxins out.

5. Drink plenty of fresh, clean water.

6. Detoxify your colon with the help of herbs and fiber.

Will this be expensive you might ask?

Well let’s consider that is costs you at most $20 a day to feed yourself. That’s about $1oo for the duration of your cleanse. Let’s say that with all told you spend at most $80 on this cleanse-which includes the cost of organic food. I encourage you to keep a record of how much you spend and see if you can actually aim lower than this estimate!

Ok, let’s begin with a sample meal plan, feel free to change it up but stick to the general guidelines above. Also combos of certain foods can deliver a desired effect which I will mention.

Day 1

Upon rising: Drink 16 oz of filtered water with 1 whole lemon squeezed into it. Consider writing or saying the word LOVE on your glass before you take a drink.

Consider some light activity such as meditation, prayer, yoga, walking or a mix of them. Sweat a little and give gratitude.

Breakfast

Choose one of the following:

1. Green Smoothie: 1 cucumber, 2 cups spinach and/or kale, 1 avocado, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, fruit in season like peach, plums, berries, apples, mangos, juice from one lime, 1/2 cup of filtered water, blended.

2. Avocado and tomato slices

Take a probiotic following breakfast. I use a VERY effective Probiotic called Life 5. I have some if you don’t want to buy a whole bottle.

Morning Snack

Fiber Shake with Colon Cleanse Cocktail vegetable juice or try Young Living’s 5-day Cleanse(I personally love this cleanse) for those needing this to be as simple as possible.

How to make Homemade Fiber Blend(keep in a clean jar) : 1/2 cup flax fiber or ground flax seeds, 1/2 cup bentonite clay, 2 tablespons ground psyllium husks or seeeds, 2 tablespoons activated charcoal(optional), 2-3 tablespoons of apple or citrus pectin(optional). Mix together and refrigerate. Mix 1 large tablespoon with 8 oz of water or vegetable juice and shake well.

Colon Cleanse Cocktail: 1 organic cucumber, 1 handful of organic spinach, 1 handful pf parsley, 1 celery stalk, 1/2 lemon peeled. Vitamix on high and drink.

Lunch

Build your own hearty organic salad with:

spinach, romaine lettuce, avocado, peppers, celery, kale, olives, pumpkin seeds, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, radishes, tomato, sprouts, squash, cilantro, & parsley, onions, carrots, dulse and nori seaweed

Salad Dressing: olive oil, Bragg Liquid Aminos, lemon juice, garlic and herbs

Afternoon Snack

Fiber Shake(see above) with vegetable juice

Still hungry? Munch on berries or a green apple.

Dinner

Choose:

1. Make a Smoothie

2. Hearty organic veggie salad with veggies listed above. Feel free to prepare brown rice to go with your salad if you need extra substance.

Evening Snack

Smoothie with raw cacao beans, nuts, bee pollen, aloe vera juice, spirulina, maca, goji berries, mangos, peaches, fruit in season, kale or romaine lettuce, avocado

Tips: Get extra rest, keep stress low, be in nature, try a coffee enema, colonics, sauna and drink plenty of water. The best way to remove toxins the quickest and safest route is through the bowels! Toxins are leaving the body at a rapid rate so some discomfort may occur. Have fun and stick it out-you will feel amazing by day 4!
